The oldest example of this type of fence dates back to Sweden in the Iron Age and has also been commonly found across Norway, Finland and Estonia since then. It is traditionally used to fence-in animals but i think it has a beautiful structural quality that would look really striking in a garden setting. It's currently undergoing a bit of a revival across Sweden and i think it would make a really nice addition to the garden as a way to divide the space...
